INGRID BETANCOURT, PRINCE OF ASTURIAS AWARD LAUREATE FOR CONCORD, PARTICIPATED IN A MEETING WITH A GROUP OF CHILDREN IN OVIEDO
José Antonio Abreu, Tzvetan Todorov, and representatives of the organisations leading the fight against malaria to participate in different events in Oviedo and Avilés.
Ingrid Betancourt, 2008 Prince of Asturias Award laureate for Concord, participated in the meeting "How to build a better world" with a group of children on Wednesday 22nd October at 6,00 p.m. at the "Salón de Té" of the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo.

The 6th International Journalism Forum featuring maestro José Antonio Abreu

José Antonio Abreu, founder of the National Network of Youth and Children Orchestras of Venezuela, along with four young musicians from the Orchestras, participated in the 6th International Journalism Forum, which was hold at 12 noon on Tuesday 22nd October at the Chamber Hall of the Prince Felipe Auditorium in Oviedo. The event was chaired by Fernando Argenta. Journalism students from the Universities of Columbia and Harvard (U.S.A.) and students of the master´s degree in Communication from different Spanish Universities attended this event. Admission was free until all seats were taken.

Conference by Tzvetan Todorov

Tzvetan Todorov, 2008 Prince of Asturias Awards laureate for Social Sciences, held a conference titled "More Than a Clash of Civilisations", at 7 p.m on 22nd October in the Auditorium of the Historical Building of the University of Oviedo. During the last part of the event, there was an opportunity for those present to ask questions. Admission was free until all seats were taken.

Seminar-Conference by the representatives of the organizations leading the fight against malaria

The organizations leading the fight against malaria in Africa, 2008 International Cooperation Award laureates, held a debate titled "A path towards hope in Africa", which took place at the Cultural Centre in Avilés at 7,30 p.m. Representing the Mahiça Health Research Centre was Pedro Alonso, director of the centre. Hassan Mshinda and Salim Abdulla for the Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania; Ogobara Doumbo, for the Malaria Research and Training Centre in Mali; and Seth Owusu-Agyei and Kwaku Poku for the Kintampo Health Research Centre in Ghana. Admission was free until all seats were taken.
